Safeguarding at Lighthouse School

Lighthouse School believes that school should be a place in which all students feel safe, valued and listened to. Keeping Children Safe in Education recognises that all students with Special Education Needs can be especially vulnerable, and staff at school take a considered and sensitive approach to supporting all our students and families. Our priority is to provide a safe environment for young people which enables them to learn and develop to their fullest potential.

Everyone working at Lighthouse School understands their responsibilities, roles and duties in providing effective safeguarding and protection of every young person in our care. Lighthouse School believes in early identification of young people who are suffering or likely to suffer harm, taking appropriate action, and working closely with outside agencies to ensure the best for all our young people.

Lighthouse School employs a full time Safeguarding Officer and Family Liaison Officer who work with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Safeguarding Team to put in place Early Help provision, Wellbeing Interventions and External support for any of our young people who need support.

Applications through RADAR can be made for Personal Assistants to support outside of school, if needed, through the Family Liaison Officer, and external support from the local Cluster can be accessed through Early Help. Please speak to the main school office for further information.

During school holidays the Safeguarding Team operate a rota. If a young person from our school needs support during the school holiday they can access this through the safeguarding@lighthouseschool.co.uk email address.
