Why is PFA important?

Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) is important because it helps students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to lead successful, independent and fulfilling adult lives. It is about much more than academic achievement; it focuses on preparing young people for real-world experiences and future opportunities.

What do students learn?

KS3
In Key Stage 3, students will develop their independence and community skills through a wide range of topics including cleaning, hygiene and health, planning and visiting offsite activities, buying and making snacks and visiting cafés.

KS45
In Key Stage 4 and 5, students will continue to develop their independence, focusing on the skills they need for the next stage of their lives.

The PFA curriculum is mapped to the Neuroinclusive Education Network framework for all Key Stages and students in Key Stage 4 and 5 will also complete units from the Entry Level 3 or Level 1 BTEC in Personal Growth and Wellbeing
